About Us!

Phil Ryder   Owner/decoy/trainer

Phil discovered his love for dog training 6 years ago after taking some basic obedience courses with his German Shepherd. Although he discovered his true passion, decoy work, after getting the chance to wear a bite sleeve and take a few bites. He studied different decoying techniques and worked with as many dogs and as many skilled decoys/trainers as possible. He is now a certified French Ring decoy, which requires very strict and rigorous testing, and he also decoys for DTAC K9 which trains many different Police Departments K9's  in our area. He decoys WSPCA Police dog trials, and he is also a decoy and member of a local French Ring club where he also handles and competes with his Belgian Malinois "Loki."

Phil is a very smart and safe decoy and dog trainer. It is difficult to find someone with the skillset to do what he does.

Jackie Lind   Owner/trainer

Growing up on a farm, Jackie knew she would always work with animals. Watching the family Labrador Retriever find, flush and retrieve game birds while hunting spurred her love for dogs and their behavior. She started teaching basic obedience classes after hours at the Veterinary Hospital she worked at, and after getting her first Belgian Malinois, she knew dog Training was her true calling. She started working at a training facility where her primary job was to handle protection K9's. She studied under and trained with many different trainers, all with different skills from puppy foundations to behavior modification, and after 5 years of gaining experience, finally started Modern Canine.

She has handled hunting dogs, protection dogs, has competed in agility, and is currently a member of a French Ringsport club where she handles and competes with her Belgian Malinois "Vice."

Zeppelin the German Shepherd

We call Zeppelin our "head puppy trainer!" It's been said that "the best dog trainer is another dog" and Zeppelin is definitely a great role model! From shy rescue pups to potential police k9 pups, he's helped show them all how to act appropriately to other dogs, as well has helped them settle in and feel comfortable in new environments. We are so thankful for such a great helper!
